Hey Everyone!

So it's been a long time in the making, but we've officially gotten our 501c3 status, so we wanted to introduce you to our project! The program, called Arkansas Women's Outreach, is designed to address gaps in women's health care for local homeless women here in Little Rock. We've been going to Canvas Community Church every Wednesday, getting to know the women and handing out donations of items they desperately need but are rarely available from other donation drives- pads, tampons, sanitary wipes, underwear, bras, etc. We are also in process of getting volunteers from UAMS's nursing/med schools to do sex education events/presentations for the women on Saturdays that will also serve as a safe place for them to ask questions and feel supported. And finally, we've been talking with local clinics about how to get the women appointments for testing, Pap smears, mammograms, BC, etc. That's the basic structure: direct donations, sex/health ed events, and access to appointments. We've gotten tons of positive feedback from the women, UAMS professors, and other community organizations. It's all really exciting!

We wanted to let you guys know about it and invite you to "like" our Facebook page to stay updated on events/volunteer opportunities. We are still in the beginning stages but are very excited to be starting this project and getting the community involved! If anyone would like to participate in any way or has any other questions, don't hesitate to contact us. We are excited to work with all passionate parties! Thank you for your support!
